If you’re looking for a top-tier coffee experience in Greenpoint, Café Grumpy is an absolute must-visit. I have been drinking their coffee every single day for the past three years as part of my morning routine, and I was thrilled to finally get the chance to visit the cafe in person. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between cozy and cool, making it a fantastic spot to grab a drink, get some work done, or just relax for a while. The interior is warm and welcoming, featuring exposed brick walls and a great community bookshelf that gives the space a genuinely friendly, neighborhood-oriented vibe.
Now, let's talk about the main event—the coffee. I cannot recommend the vanilla latte highly enough. It is perfectly crafted, featuring a rich, smooth espresso base paired with just the right amount of sweetness, and the presentation with the latte art was lovely. You can truly taste the quality of their beans in every single sip. Whether you are a serious coffee aficionado or just need a delicious afternoon pick-me-up, this place delivers consistently high-quality beverages.
Beyond the coffee, the service is efficient and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. The shop is also well-maintained, offering plenty of seating options, whether you prefer a small table for solo work or a larger space to sit with friends. It’s clear that they take great pride in their craft, and that translates directly into the cup. If you find yourself in the neighborhood, do yourself a favor and stop by Café Grumpy—it’s easily one of my favorite local coffee spots!

Very spacious cafe that doesn't get packed on a Wednesday morning. Coffee is very good - I got their decaf flat white. Nice place to come and do work, read, catch up with friends.

Super quiet cafe. Good coffee. Not good to chat with friends, best for quiet study. Lots of laptops out. And yes, Hannah (Lena Dunham) worked here in Girls so that was cool.

Although I have been a fan/customer of Cafe Grumpy for quite some time, the prices are the thorn in my side. The price for a flat white coffee is $6.53 now! I only go to this location while Im working in the area, I usually got to the grand central location. Everything else about their customer service and coffee is great, Im just so bothered by the price hike because I thought it was high before the recent increase.
